FAQs

What is STEP?

STEP stands for the Strategic Transfer Engagement Plan and the purpose of STEP is to help reduce transfer barriers and increase opportunities for CT State students to engage with their chosen 4-year transfer destination within the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) system. We want to help you transfer from CT State to CSCU as easily as possible, so we have created STEP to streamline the process.

Why should I participate in STEP?

By enrolling in the STEP program, you will receive personalized support and connect with resources to keep you on track to transfer to your preferred CSCU institution without needing to resubmit all your transcripts or immunization records. Starting early on your transfer plan means that you will minimize earning any credits that won’t transfer, build a relationship with your intended transfer school and even be invited to events at your future institution.

Is there a credit limit for when I can enroll in STEP?

Ideally, students will be completing the STEP Transfer Intent Form prior to earning 30 credits, because we want to connect you with your transfer institution early in the transfer process.
