Today, Mark E. Ojakian, President of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities system released the following statement regarding passage of House Bill 5376, a bill which brings a standard definition of Affirmative Consent to all state higher education institutions:

“The language of this bill is consistent with, and expands upon, the language of the current CSCU policy regarding sexual assault on campus. We are thankful for its passage and will continue to improve our current efforts on prevention and awareness.  Our commitment is to not just provide a safe campus, but to foster a culture that actively acknowledges and confronts the realities of rape, sexual assault and intimate partner violence on our campuses and in our communities. When it comes to the safety and well-being of our students we simply cannot be overly diligent.”
