Statement from President Gray Regarding Gov. Malloy’s Proposed Budget

Governor Dannel Malloy’s budget proposal for the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) is a tough one, and the Board of Regents for Higher Education will be looking carefully at it in the coming days. We don’t yet know its full impact, and we are in the process of reviewing options to develop our plans going forward. However, throughout this process all of our efforts will be focused on minimizing the impact of this reduction on students as well as on the instructional process.
The Board of Regents appreciates that these are difficult times. However, our mission is to be a responsible steward for a higher education system that is accessible and affordable. We will work closely with the legislature and the Governor to ensure that the budget keeps doors open to Connecticut’s students, while operating our campuses as efficiently and effectively as possible.
