Presidential Candidate Mary Ellen Jukoski to Visit Three Rivers on May 6

On Tuesday, May 6, Mary Ellen Jukoski will visit Three Rivers Community College to meet with faculty, staff, students and community members.

On Tuesday, May 6, Mary Ellen Jukoski will visit Three Rivers Community College to meet with faculty, staff, students and community members. Dr. Jukoski is a candidate for the president role at Three Rivers Community College.  During her visit, she will also meet with members of the Board of Regents and BOR president Dr. Gregory Gray. 

Biography

Mary Ellen Jukoski, Ed.D. is the sixth President of Mitchell College. She served as Dean of Mitchell College from 1990 to 1995 and was appointed Acting President on July 1, 1994. Following a national search, the Board of Trustees appointed her to the presidency on March 1, 1995.

Dr. Jukoski earned her bachelor’s degree in English and Education from the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY. She also earned two master’s degrees, the first in curriculum planning and development from the State University of New York and the second in English from St. Rose. The University of Memphis awarded her an Ed.D. Degree in higher education curriculum and instruction. She is an alumna of the Higher Education Resources Services (HERS) Management Institute for Women in Higher Education at Wellesly College, the Harvard Graduate School of Education Management of Lifelong Education (MLE) and New President’s Institute, along with the leadership seminar for College Presidents, Yale University.

Dr. Jukoski has been awarded several prestigious fellowships and honors. She was selected for the W.K. Kellogg Foundation National Leadership Fellowship Group VIII from 1987-90. In addition, she is a member of Who’s Who of American Women and numerous national leadership and honor societies, including Phi Delta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa and Kappa Delta Pi. She received the Excellence in Education Award 2006 from the Alumni Association of SUNY Albany. She was also selected as one of 100 women leaders by the Women’s Center of Southeastern Connecticut in October 2004 and, in 2006, she was recognized as one of “25 Uncommon Women in Connecticut” by the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center. In fall 2008, she received the Eastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce’s prestigious William Crawford Distinguished Service Award.

She serves on the boards of Chelsea Groton Bank, Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, and The Williams School in New London, is a member of the Executive Committee and serves as Secretary of the Connecticut Conference of Independent Colleges (CCIC), and is a member of the New London Rotary. Recently, she was elected as a Commissioner to the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) Commission on Institutions of Higher Education.

She lives with her husband, Dr. Matthew McLoughlin, in East Lyme. They have a college-age daughter, Elizabeth who is a student at Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
