President Ojakian Encourages Cost Saving Measures to Address Budget Cuts

President Ojakian is encouraging cost saving measures by reminding employees that they may apply for unpaid leaves of absences through reduced weekly work schedules or volunteer furlough days.

As part of on-going efforts to address a funding decrease for the coming year, Mark E. Ojakian, President of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities is encouraging cost saving measures by reminding employees that they may apply for unpaid leaves of absences through reduced weekly work schedules or volunteer furlough days and for eligible employees to consider sharing their tentative or firm retirement plans to assist with the budget planning process.

“Given our current fiscal reality and the uncertainty around a final Fiscal Year 2017 budget, we must explore all conceivable strategies for increasing revenue and decreasing expenditures,” said President Ojakian. “I am hopeful that these steps will identify volunteer opportunities to save resources while at the same time we explore other cost saving measures.”
