Board Chairman Confirmed by General Assembly

Board of Regents Chairman, Lewis J. Robinson, has been confirmed by the Connecticut General Assembly.

Board of Regents Chairman, Lewis J. Robinson, has been confirmed by the Connecticut General Assembly. He was approved by the Senate today and the House of Representative last week. The Board of Regents governs the state’s 12 community colleges, 4 state universities and Charter Oak State College – the state’s only public, online degree-granting institution.

“I am honored by the Governor’s appointment, and I thank the legislature for its support,” said Chairman Robinson. “There is no shortage of work to get done to address the critical issues of higher education accessibility and affordability, but already the Board has passed a seamless transfer and articulation agreement to better allow students to transfer among our 17 campuses. We’ll continue to work aggressively with our campus leadership and faculty, state employers, and leaders to ensure that, as Governor Malloy has directed, we create one of the best public higher education systems in the country.”

“As President, I feel lucky to be able to work with this Board of Regents,” said President Robert A. Kennedy. “The members come from a number of different backgrounds and have a wide variety of private and public sector work experience to reflect upon as we consider the workforce development and instructional needs of our state’s employers. Higher education is a pathway toward future success for so many of our state’s residents, and we must ensure that this opportunity remains accessible and affordable to those who wish to pursue a degree or certificate.”
